The Vicious Cycle

I don’t job-hop. If allowed, I stay at an organization until either something happens that forces me out (thankfully, this has never happened), or a better opportunity comes along (more money, better balance, etc). I enjoy working and building things and the more time I spend at an organization the more I can build, the bigger those things can be, and the greater impact I can have.

Battlestar Galactica (2003) Rewatch - Primer

I cannot believe it has been +20 years since the Battlestar Galactica remake was released. It’s no wonder my knees hurt so much!

Where It All Started

Link to heading

The original series (Battlestar Galactica) aired on ABC (September 1978 - April 1979, 24 episodes), and while it initially received high ratings, competition from “All in the Family” (airing on CBS) impacted viewership. There was a very short-lived sequel, Galactica 1980, a 10-episode series airing in… you guessed it; 1980. And then nothing; not for a while. In 1999 Richard Hatch (played ‘Apollo’ in the original series) tried to resurrect the IP, but Universal didn’t bite. It took a few more years before we finally got industry veteran Ronald D. Moore (and company) launching a rejuvenated and darker version of the classic late-70s science fiction show, airing as a two-part miniseries in December 2003.

Here We Go...
Note: This was originally written on October 29th, 2025; however, deployment issues prevented it from being published. There is a paragraph towards the end that explains…

So… We meet again!

This has got to be the 5th time I have restarted this blog. I’m not proud of that, but it is what it is. Let me jot down some thoughts about that!

“So, you made another blog?”

Link to heading

Yeah, yeah, yeah… Yes, I restarted this blog, again! I realize that I posted last year (a post that you can’t read because I haven’t imported everything from the old blog) about content consistency, and the self-imposed pressure of writing things. I don’t generate a lot of content. I have four small children, and a full-time job, and a ton of hobbies and obligations. Things that I do are rarely ‘produced’ to the point where I’m confident sharing them via this medium. The effort involved with taking something that works in-person and adapting it to something that you can read, understand, and enjoy, is sometimes difficult, and usually time consuming. I have tried to make regular posts, but honestly, I don’t feel like I have that much to say. At least, not much that I think people would want to read. Again, not without work to massage it to convey the right information with the right tone.

About Me

My Resume

For the last several months I have been working on a few things for the 2025 PowerShell + DevOps Global Summit (which I will refer to as ‘Summit’). I wrote this entry in advance, and scheduled the post to publish just as the doors to Summit are opening. If you are in Bellevue, WA for the conference, please, find me, give me a high-five, and tell me a joke or something! I love meeting people and talking shop! And (on this titled topic) make sure to pick up some swag!

JetKVM: Totally Not a Scam!

I am probably not the only one that has backed a crowd-funded project that never sees the light of day. Don’t get me wrong; I have funded several successful campaigns like Pebble, Pebble Time, MAD GOD, System Shock, Hyper Light Drifter, Project Atma, and a few others, where I actually received what I backed, and so much more. Each of these campaigns had a story to them; though, not all were good… I funded Mighty No. 9, which was a laughable “spiritual successor” to Mega Man. I funded Star Citizen, which I am confident will not be fully released before 2030. I funded the OUYA, which was… the OUYA… being both the most funded Kickstarter at the time, and perhaps the worst console of the modern era… Most recently, I funded JetKVM.

3D Printing: Tightly Compressed Spaghetti

I purchased a P1S 3D printer from Bambu Labs nearly a year ago. It is my first 3D printer, and I am feeling a bit like a poser. My brother and several friends have had printers for years, and I distinctly remember stories about bed adhesion issues, poor quality prints, broken parts, and… Spaghetti! Honestly, as cool as the concept was, I was dissuaded from buying a printer because I didn’t want another thing that required routine tinkering. I likened it to owning a car, but having to be a mechanic for it at the same time… I just wanted the ’thing’ to do its job without constant maintenance or adjustments.
